Small Classes & Co-Teaching Support
We maintain small class sizes—averaging 25 students (capped strictly at 28)—to foster a safe, supportive, and close-knit learning environment.
Dedicated Classroom Team: Every homeroom is co-taught by a qualified Homeroom Teacher and a dedicated Educational Assistant (EA), ensuring continuous guidance, personalized attention, and small-group support.
Specialist Instruction: Physical Education (P.E.) and Music are taught by specialist teachers who nurture students’ physical health, spatial confidence, and creative expression in Mind, Body, and Spirit.
English-Immersed Environment: SWYHKCS uses English as the Medium of Instruction (EMI) across core subjects, with Chinese-related subjects taught in Putonghua (Mandarin).
Tailored Setting in Chinese & Mathematics
We view learning diversity as a strength. For Chinese Language and Mathematics, students across each year group are organized into smaller, fluid learning sets. These targeted groups allow teachers to pace instruction to the child—providing dedicated support to consolidate core skills or rich extension challenges for advanced learners.
Trilingual Advantage: English, Chinese & Spanish
To enrich our global perspective, Spanish lessons are built directly into the weekly timetable for Years 3 through 6. By graduation, SWYHKCS students build fluency in English and Chinese, alongside a confident grounding in elementary Spanish.
Direct Admissions & Secondary Pathway
Direct Admissions: SWYHKCS operates independently and does not participate in the Hong Kong Government’s Primary 1 (P1) Central Allocation system. We admit families directly through our own application process.
Priority Secondary Link: SWYHKCS graduates enjoy priority placement at our sister school, YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College (YHKCC), providing a seamless transition into a world-class secondary education grounded in shared Christian values.
